Jeanette Barnes
Jeanette Barnes, born in Great Harwood, Lancashire in 1961, was educated at The Royal Academy School 1984-1987 and The Royal College of Art in London 1987-89. She was awarded the Henry Moore Scholarship in 1984 and 1987-90, the Richard Ford Spanish Scholarship in 1987 and was the Jerwood Drawing 2004 prize winner. Jeanette’s work is held in public and private collections in the UK, Austria, Germany and the USA including Manchester City Art Gallery, Lloyds Bank, Hammersons UK, Riggs Bank and Foster and Partners. The works are mainly cityscape and industry, focusing on human activity in relation to architectural environments, using the movement as a metaphor for energy with the city and passage of time. The medium of charcoal captures the vitality and essence of the subject.
